The Aviation Museum and Discovery Center, also known as the AMDC, introduces visitors to the wonders of flight and the heritage of aviation. The center, situated in Metro Atlanta, celebrates the innovation of flight and stimulates the imagination of young and old as they explore the applications of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) to aviation.

Located in the beautiful Aviation Park, the center covers an impressive 15.5 acres of exhibition, incorporating playgrounds and an outdoor classroom.

The Aviation Museum and Discovery Center is a work in progress and a facility to house historical treasures pertaining to aviation is set to open this year. It is hoped that over 200,000 visitors will walk through the completed museum’s doors each year. The new area will include an indoor sky diving area, labs, a theater and a media center, as well as exhibit galleries.

Education is a key cornerstone in the center’s existence and much effort is made to preserve and exhibit historically significant artifacts. The museum serves students and learners of all ages and creates programs that are tailor made for their target audiences. The museum designs outreach programs, unique educational courses for young people and even events designed for families through summer camps, weekend workshops and more.

The museum boasts several excellent collections, including the NAS (Naval Air Station) Atlanta Memorial Exhibit, which pays tribute to the people, operations and aircraft that make NAS Atlanta one of the leading forces in the country’s aviation system.

Restoration efforts are also part the attempts of the museum to showcase aviation history. The center displays newly acquired Navy aircraft, as well as the restoration of a C-141 Star Lifter and a C-140 Jet Star. Aviation Park is home to several interesting aircraft, including an A-4 Skyhawk, an A-6 Intruder, and an F-14 Tomcat.

The museum accepts items and artifacts for its collection, which are used in exhibitions and educational programs.

Aviation Park is situated in a beautiful natural setting, with great care taken to preserve the native foliage and make use of recycled materials. Visitors are thus provided with a highly interesting and educational experience in a delightful location.

The museum is located at Atlanta Road and South Cobb Drive.
