Frontiers of Flight Museum

The Frontiers of Flight Museum, in Dallas, Texas, offers one of the most unique historical experiences. Unlike most museums, the Flight Museum provides visitors from all walks of life - both young and old - an interactive, fun and thorough walk through aviation history.
The Flight Museum today stands as both a reminder and an education facility dedicated to those who have made a difference in the world of avionics. This includes commercial, warfare and space avionics.
Opened in 1989, the museum is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary with many new and exciting exhibitions on the go. One such exhibition is the Normandy Invasion Memorial which celebrates the bravery of the soldiers and the role that the air force played in the battle 65 years ago. Taking place on 6 June 2009, entrance is free to all WWII veterans.
The museum also recently reintroduced its school program - Flight School 2009 - which offers children a list of activities which include an exploration of Dallas Love Field Airport, building model planes and rockets, meeting a famous person in aviation and many others.
Other children's activities include birthday parties. The museum provides a safe environment for children as well as the ability to learn something new in an entertaining and interactive manner. Bookings for birthday parties should be done well in advance to ensure proper preparation and space.
Staff and team building events can also be hosted by the Flight Museum and these are especially popular during the summer months and towards the Christmas season for office parties.
By keeping the museum accessible to all, the curators have been able to entertain and educate thousands of children and adults and allow them a glimpse at a very important part of American history.
The museum is also involved in raising funds itself and not relying on federal donations. Anyone can be a part of the museum's future by joining in the novel fundraiser where visitors are asked to "buy" a brick in order to sponsor the building of a new paved walkway. At a cost of $100 per brick, this is not for everyone, but is nevertheless a worthy venture.
The museum is located on 6911 Lemmon Avenue and is open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm and on Sundays from 1pm to 5pm. Admission fee for adults is $8, students aged 3 to 17 costs $5 and children under 3 are free.
