Know Before You Fly

Know Before You Fly Know Before You Fly is an education campaign that provides unmanned aircraft operators with guidance and information allowing them to fly safely and responsibly.  This applies to recreational users, business users, and public entities.

It was founded by the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI), the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA), and the Small UAV Coalition in partnership with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to educate prospective users about the safe and responsible operation of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS).

Part 107

Effective August 29, 2016, the Small UAS Rule (Part 107) sets forth the rules for non-recreational operation of small drones in the United States.  The FAA provides these resources:

Small UAV Coalition The Small UAV Coalition was formed to advocate for commercial, consumer, recreational, and philanthropic use of UAVs by removing "unnecessary policy or regulatory hurdles that impede small UAV development, sales, job creation, and services."
